Odense Omnibus
1923 - 1952

Author: Ole Iskov

Because The Danish Tramway Historical Society has published the book Odense Omnibus 1923 - 1952 an arrangement was held in Odense, Funen.

The bus is made by Volvo and was designed by architect and graphic designer Gunnar Biilmann Petersen.

The bus was running for Odense Omnibus Company - which had lines in Odense, where the tram and the trolley wasn't running. The company stopped at July the 1st 1952.

The bus was sold together with its 5 'sisters' to Odence Citytraffic where it was on duty as no. 7 until 1964.

From 1964 to 1967 the bus was running for Nyborg Citytraffic and in 1970 The Danish Tramway Historical Society became the owner

At the arrangement you could see among others:

The author, Ole Iskov, the mayor of Odense, Anker Boye, and the president of The Danish Tramway Historical Society, Mikael Lund.

In front of the bus you can see the children of the manager of Odense Omnibus, Christian Barfoed - Rolf Barfoed and Karen Barfoed, who are together with the author.

The arrangement was a succes with music, speeches by Anker Boye, Ole Iskov and Mikael Lund followed by a light meal.
